Johnny
|
| This is Johnny. He
had been living with his Dad in a field with no shelter (goats aren't
waterproof like sheep!) next to a railway line. The RSPCA were
called because local residents were concerned about the goats' welfare.
Just before the RSPCA contacted us, Dad was found
dead in the small stream running through the field. Johnny had
seen his Dad die, and was so distraught that he started banging his head
against a tree and broke off one of his wonderful horns. It took
us over two hours to catch Johnny. It looked as though he was
going to jump one of the fences, and was far too near the railway line
for my liking - but thankfully he opted for the other side of the field
and jumped over that fence, running over the road and up a driveway to a
farm. Nobody was at home, and for the next half hour we ran round
and round the concrete yard until we finally caught him in a cow
cubicle. The Farmer doesn't know to this day that we used his
facilities!
